Kleu, our new Housemother; Mr Mxolisi Ncane, who also joined the Mathematics Department; Mr Lunga Nkosi, who also joined the strength and conditioning team; and intern teacher Mr Che Charles. As the year ended we bid farewell to Mrs Claire Hornby, who has been a much-loved tutor during her time in Farfield; she will be moving to Pascoe in 2026 as their new E Block Tutor. He has been a constant ad vocate for the boys, a calm voice in the storms, and a leader who always stood firmly in our corner; even in the moments where some of us made that a little difficult. His guidance, care and faith in us have been instrumental in Pascoe’s transfor mation. I want to thank him for pouring everything he has into this House. Mr Olivier was a pillar of discipline and wisdom; he brought depth, structure and mentorship to the House. His abil ity to have impactful, meaningful conversations with the boys made him a grounding presence throughout the year. Mr Leslie, as an Old Boy, has connected with the boys on a level that bridged generations. He understood us, guided us and supported us with quiet strength. Mr Zondi and Mr Thun der, our live-in interns, brought daily energy with their presence, approachability and invaluable mentorship. Mrs McMichael, E Block homeroom tutor, was instrumental in shaping the juniors’ public speaking, and set a high academic and cultural stan dard. Mr Dubazana, although new to Pascoe this year, imme diately made an impact, especially with his expertise in fitness and conditioning. Mr Mickleburgh gifted the boys with his intel lectual wisdom and deep Christian insight, enriching not only minds but hearts. Quiet and consistent, our Housemother, Ms Kleu, was the or ganisational heartbeat of Pascoe. Her work behind the scenes ensured that the House ran smoothly and that every boy felt cared for. Her calm presence and unwavering support made Pascoe feel like home. Her kindness, patience and dedication set the standard for service in the House. She saw our rooms at their best and worst, yet greeted every day with warmth and a smile. Her work is deeply appreciated and never unnoticed. The E Block boys arrived with remarkable enthusiasm, quick ly establishing themselves as a spirited and talented group. Kayden Elliott led from the front by earning places in both U14A water polo and second-team squash, while Pano Gargassoulas

Our D Block has shown outstanding promise this year, emerg ing as a group with genuine talent and strong academic ambi tion. Sam Porter and Nkanyezi Ndlovu stand out as particularly gifted academics, consistently maintaining top-tier results and effort levels. The Block as a whole has shown positive spirit and commitment, offering optimism for the future of Farfield. The E Block arrived this year with enthusiasm, joy and unmis takable energy. Their presence has brought vibrancy to the House, and their early achievements highlight the depth of tal ent emerging in the junior ranks. With three A-team rugby play ers and an A-team hockey player already making their mark, this Block has signalled they are ready to rise to future challeng es. Among them, Thabiso Nthoba is a standout – a multital ented boy whose strengths span music, hockey and rugby. His versatility and passion speak to the bright future of the 2029 matric group. From the outset there was a sense of expectation in the corri dors; not pressure, but purpose. And it is with pride that we can say we exceeded every hope we had for this House. The biggest challenge our leadership faced was tackling the negative perception of Pascoe; a reputation built on years of chaos and “creative decision-making”. Yet through commit ment, unity and a bit of humour, we turned that perception around completely. For the first time in many years, Pascoe was not only respected, it was admired. Most importantly, Pascoe became not just a building the boys lived in, but a home. The renovated space helped, but the spirit ran deeper: the brotherhood, the pride, the aura that made this House incomparable. This year, Pascoe was alive.
