questioning opinions and circumstances I would not previously have done. I highly recommend taking dramatic arts at Michaelhouse, but it is not as easy as some may think. Sometimes the conversations in the classroom will be tough to digest, and cause you to question your entire view of some topics. This year we had a large, diverse group of students who all bounced ideas off each other and allowed each other to grow exponentially. I believe that drama is arguably the only place at Michaelhouse to raise your voice.
We also congratulate Ben Cheales, one of our A Block boys, on being awarded a scholarship to study at Berklee university in Boston. Below is a brief account from him of his thoughts about our subject.
BEN CHEALES, A BLOCK
Selecting drama as a subject in C Block was one of the most successful choices of my academic career at Michaelhouse. Not only has it taught me things about the world of drama, it has stretched my understanding of interactions and left me

It saw the arrival of the new Head of Music, Mr Gareth Dry, who arrived at the beginning of the second quarter. The music school currently offers private tuition in the following instruments: piano, drums, guitar (acoustic and electric), saxophone, violin, trumpet, cello and voice. T

Many other boys have completed their practical examinations, and we are awaiting the results. Many of the boys that take music instrument lessons have performed as soloists at various functions, both at school and in the area. These boys include Ian Graham, Makena Githiri, Zhengfei Li, Ben Viljoen, Ben Cheales and Luneziwe Mshengu. Another notable achievement was Brent Tayengwa being selected for the KZN Youth Jazz Band. 2025 promises to be another successful year for music at Michaelhouse.
