FLIPPING BOOK CHRONICLE 2024

keep the flame of Michaelhouse burning bright in the hearts of all who have been touched by their experience of the school. It’s about preserving memories, forging new connections and ensuring that the Michaelhouse culture lives on for generations to come. During the year following its launch, the club gained 120 members. These men and women continue to receive informative and valuable school communications via various media, and are invited to join or participate in various official school and Old Boy functions, including golf days and cultural events. An inaugural SMC Committee was formed to guide the club, to establish principles and guidelines to ensure its sustainability, and to set up connections with the various stakeholders in the school community. The committee consists of Warren Bolttler (past parent) as the chairman, Richard Bates (Old Boys liaison), Geoff Perkins (parents liaison), Marcel Cornelius (staff liaison), Johan van Rooyen (past staff liaison) and Frances Fleming Bolttler (Michaelhouse Development Office liaison).

One of the highlights of the year was the drinks reception arranged at the Old Boys’ Club on the Friday night before the Hilton-Michaelhouse derby, which had a great turnout of new (and prospective) SMC members. We look forward to hosting many more gatherings and to increasing SMC participation in the years to come. To find out more or to join the SMC please send an email to smc@michaelhouse.org .
