who was the starting point guard for the first team basketball and had a spot in the competition marimba band. Oliver Guy captained the U16A rugby team, represented the Sharks’ Grant Khomo side, played KZN polo and reached 50 caps for the first team water polo. Reese Hill made an incredible cultural contribution, playing for the competition marimba band, and passing Grade 6 guitar and Grade 2 piano. The group were tightly bonded, always gave 100% and were true to the name of Michaelhouse, enjoying healthy competition and showing high levels of discipline. As they grow and move on to B Block, I encourage them to build on their great achievements so far, making sure they always look out for one another and lift everyone around them. There were many noticeable achievements by the House’s strong B Block group during the year. William Russon was selected as the chairman of the Toastmasters’ Society for 2025, and extended his winning streak in rugby at Michaelhouse to 21 wins from 21 matches. Craig Cribbins achieved some amazing results in canoeing, coming first in the U18 South African sprints, winning gold for the 500m mixed doubles and, of course, earning canoeing honours. Speedy Walters made the South African B team for fly fishing, a great achievement in the face of stiff competition. Ziyanda Hlongwa played in the competition marimba band, played U18B KZN basketball and received honours for music. Oliver Davis played First XV 179
Farren captaining their sports teams. A particularly noticeable performer was Jamie Grantham, who was the top canoeist for KZN in the U14 age group. A special mention must be made of Warona Ramorobi and Connor Jordaan, who had excellent academic results, with Connor achieving top ten in the Block for three terms and Warona averaging 80% throughout the terms. This group came together very nicely during the year, and I encourage them to keep building their relationships with one another and to take advantage of everything on offer here at Michaelhouse. The D Block this year were very busy and involved in the House, known for their loud comradery and passage cricket. Honourable mentions to Mitchell Muirhead, who played for the U15A team in all his sports, and Ethan Perry, who contributed on the academic front with consistent top-ten placements. Daniel Uys was picked for South Africa at mountain biking, a well-deserved reward for his hours of dedication. This group have grown very much as a whole and continue to impress those around them. The guidance and leadership they showed towards the E Block was much appreciated by Mr Kotze and the prefect team. The C Block this year were an extremely talented group of guys who contributed widely to Tatham’s success. There were many multitalented boys in their ranks, such as Micheal Ngorima,
