position that we are in. I would also like to thank Phil for his willingness to provide coaching to our boys throughout this year. This has seen many boys begin to take golf more seriously rather than playing only for fun. Finally, thank you to the Michaelhouse golfers. Your enthusiasm has led to the resurgence of golf at Michaelhouse. Special mention to our 2024 captain, Christopher Angel. Your commitment to golf is something that inspired a lot of boys. Thank you for leading by example. I hope that golf can continue to be a major part of your life in the future.
to 2023. Congratulations to Samuel Heath, who won the 2024 tournament with a dramatic chip in on the 18th hole. The highlight of the year is arguably the Douglas Cup, a 27 hole, Ryder Cup-format competition against Hilton College. In 2023 we narrowly won against a strong Hilton side. This year our boys were determined to prove that that was no fluke. We were treated to absolutely perfect conditions at Bosch Hoek, and our boys came out firing from the start. We were able to defend the trophy with a dominant 18-6 victory over Hilton. Our vision for Michaelhouse golf is one that extends beyond the boys to bring together boys, parents and the community. This year we began working towards this vision with the inaugural Michaelhouse Family Golf Day. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness and funds for the Michaelhouse Community Partnership Trust. Working with Gowrie Farm, the MCPT and the Development Office, headed by Frances Bolttler, we were able to put together a lovely day of golf, despite the bitingly cold mid-June conditions. Congratulations to Ron Rutland and William Aylward, who were the inaugural champions. We hope that this was the start of an annual event which can only grow in strength. In conclusion, I would like to thank all the staff members who gave up their time to support the boys as they went out daily to practise golf. I would like to give particular thanks to Bradley Ross and his team at Bosch Hoek, and Phil Simmons and his team at Gowrie. Without their support we would not be in the
