The Chronicle 2022
results at the Kearsney ISSBT in September/October before a string of excellent victories against Treverton College (98-18), DHS (52-25), Hilton College (91-51) and Maritzburg College (51-45). We came unstuck in our last game of the season away to a St Charles College team that has swept all before them and was on a 25-game winning streak before we met them (36-72). It was a valuable learning curve for a young team and one they will use next year. All in all, 2022 has been a resounding success and our first team again lead by example. I would like to thank our head coach Mr Junior Mazibuko, his assistant coach Mr Nkanyiso Ngcobo and our conditioning specialist Mr Prosper Dubazana for their excellent efforts in bringing out the best in the boys and helping them to reach new heights this year. They have set the bar at its highest point for the boys who will follow in their footsteps. I would also like to thank Mr Ngcobo for his years of service to the first team where he has been at the helm of a great period of success. We look forward to his expertise being used to develop our juniors from next year.

wenty-nine Michaelhouse boys are currently registered with the Kwa-Zulu Natal Canoeing Union. Most of these boys have raced at some point this year. The club’s aim remains to develop healthy, capable and resilient young canoeists while attaining widespread, inclusive, sustainable, enjoyable participation and success at all levels. These goals were achieved with some success over the course of the year. The inter-school league which aims to give paddlers exposure to the various canoeing disciplines restarted this year after a period of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Michaelhouse won four of the six team events in this league to finish six points clear of ‘Maritzburg College. Jack Shooter won four of the five individual events claiming the U18 Victor Ladorum. It remains a proud point that Michaelhouse again exposed more boys to the inter-schools’ league than any other boys school.
