the next chapter of her journey. She will always be a part of this family, and we will miss her deeply. We would also like to thank our Housemother, Ms Rebotile Ngwenya, whose care and devo tion kept Baines calm, and ensured all boys felt at home. Mr Mathew Higginson has been a steadfast and inspiring House master for Baines, consistently challenging the boys to reach their full potential while maintaining a nurturing and supportive environment. He has skilfully balanced high expectations with genuine care, prioritizing the boys’ well-being by ensuring they got enough rest while staying focused and remaining driven to wards their academic, sporting and personal goals. Beyond his formal duties, he has been a guiding presence and father figure within the House, offering wisdom, encouragement and disci pline in equal measure. Whether celebrating achievements or helping navigate setbacks, Mr Higginson has built a culture of resilience, camaraderie and excellence in Baines, leaving a leg acy that will continue to shape the House for years to come. Being part of this incredible House/family for the past five years has been a privilege, and I am deeply grateful for everyone who has been part of my journey, and for those who kept pushing me towards my goals. I am also grateful I never gave up on those goals. I will miss the House, the school and those who were part of this journey – I will forever cherish the memories. I wish Baines nothing but the best. The A Block concluded their Michaelhouse journey with dis tinction and pride, leaving a record of excellence across sport and service. Lufuno Kanyongolo led from the front as first-team basketball captain, earning MVP and selection for the KZN U18A side. Gregor von Mayer continued his outstanding hock ey career, representing first-team hockey, earning selection for KZN Inland U18A, and competing at senior level for KZN Men’s Inland indoor hockey. Mathew Carolan excelled both as a first team hockey player and as first-team golf captain – he placed seventh overall at the KZN Nomads Golf Championship, made the KZN Schools U18A golf side, and helped secure a historic victory at the Affies Invitational Golf Tournament, the school’s first win since 2010. Lwandle Nzama brought physical pres ence and leadership to the field as a first-team rugby player, earning the prestigious Floyd Paterson “Stripes” award along with half-colours for rugby. In service, Lennie Kamua, Cameron Griffin and Alex Roberts each received half-colours, recognising their steady commitment to the school community. Joshua van Niekerk represented second-team basketball with distinction, contributing to the team’s title-winning performance at the Jenny Orchard Invitational tournament. Sithsaba Simukonda rounded off an impressive matric year by representing first team hockey, earning selection for KZN Inland U18B, and re ceiving colours for service for his dedication beyond the field. Together, the matric class of 2025 have left behind a legacy defined by leadership, consistency and wholehearted involve ment – finishing their time at Michaelhouse with achievements that reflect both their talent and their character. All these achievements would not have been possible without the dedication and support of the tutors who guided us daily, making sure each boy achieved his goals. Their tireless efforts and beliefs did not go unnoticed around the House. A special thank you to Auntie Bongi, who leaves Michaelhouse in 2025 after being here since 2000. She has showed kindness, laughter and warmth, making this place feel like home. Her steady presence and gentle support were a source of comfort to the many boys who passed through these doors. Her care never went unnoticed, and her impact will stay with us long after she has left. We wish her nothing but joy, rest and new blessings on

Mackenzie has always stood as a place where boys discover the best parts of themselves – at times through achievement, at times through challenges, but always through brotherhood. This year, perhaps more than ever, the House became a home built on shared spirit, genuine support and a deep sense of belonging.
