the golf course. Joel Reinhardt strengthened West’s legacy with first-team basketball, and Charles Purdon represented KZN B and first-team hockey. Jess Webber showed off his talent in the pool with colours for water polo, while Jake McDonald earned academic colours, Andrew Beckerman secured half-colours for service, and Emmanuel Leondidis showed off his strength, bench-pressing 100kg for the first time. The A Block did not disappoint either, leading from the front in all aspects of school life. Roelof Roussow got TARPS every term, starred as Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar and came sec ond in the province for the National Maths Olympiad. Joe Gilson played a crucial role in the Jazz Band, which won the Stellen bosch Jazz Competition, and finished off his year with honours for music. Kyle Indeche was not to be outdone by his peers, receiving honours for service, being named most improved in History and CAT, and earning the diligence award for History, Geography and Maths Literacy at Speech Day. Franko Bocking made us proud yet again when he was awarded half-colours for service and academics, and earned West some valuable House points when he won the interhouse Afrikaans Prepared Speech competition. Aside from the fact that he was a prefect, played third-team water polo and got 90% for Maths all year, David Hepburn tells me that his greatest achievement was making lots of friends and always having a smile on his face. Jacques le Vieux put on an outstanding performance in the classroom this year, achieving academic merit and half-colours. Mark Conway joined Roelof Rossouw on the stage for Jesus Christ Superstar in his star role as Pilate, as well as getting academic honours, coming first in the 800m at interhouse athletics, being named the top goalscorer for second-team hockey, and finishing off his school career as a five-year of both the Chapel and Chamber choirs. Tebogo Mogashoa was named Deputy Head of House, and played a huge role in motivating boys to perform for the House, while also being an important member of the Toastmas ters society. Luvuyo Tsibani achieved TARPS the entire year, and was also a member of Toastmasters. Tlangelani Mashaba daz zled us with some outstanding times in the 100m and 200m track sprints, while also being named deputy war cry leader and ensuring the school always brought its best in support of its sports teams. ment with the KZN debating team, while being ranked the third best reply speaker. He also made the regional debating team, and was awarded academic colours. Kolahano Mokutu played first-team football and brought home the FA Cup trophy with them. Jack Hulley spread the name of West far and wide as he DJed at events all over the country, while also finishing off strongly academically. Overall it was a stunner of a year from West. In addition to all the outstanding achievements of the boys, the House lifted the Todd Cup for the first time in a long while, managing to beat all other Houses in all aspects of school life. Additionally, we man aged to secure the Senior Prefect and Second Prefect spots for next year, with Max Oliva and Rendani Nonge making us extremely proud. We look forward to seeing how West is going to excel in years to come. As the curtains close on another year at Michaelhouse and in West, we’re reminded once again that this House is more than a building. It’s a brotherhood, a family and an unforgettable chapter in each boy’s life. Through every triumph, every chal lenge, every midnight laugh and early-morning rush, West re mains exactly what it has always been:

A home. A legacy. And undeniably, unapologetically… The Best.

The past year has been a defining chapter for Farfield – a year marked by resilience, transition and achievement. Our 2025 jour ney began with a move to Old Tatham while Farfield underwent an extensive renovation. Although relocating presented challenges, the boys approached it with maturity and unity, ensuring that the spirit of the House remained strong. The return to our refurbished Farfield home at the start of term four was a moment of real pride and renewed energy. Our collective thanks go to the architect of this project, Mr Nick Grice – a Farfield Old Boy himself – for the thoughtful and creative improvements he has made to our beloved home from-home.
