This year, apart from the traditional round of minigolf and pizzas at Piggly Wiggly, the B Block class attended a literature workshop at St John’s DSG in Pietermaritzburg in preparation for their matric programme. The event was a triumph and certainly a lot of fun. The junior Blocks also enjoyed their annual outing at Piggly Wiggly for pizzas and a round of minigolf as reward for much hard work.

T

he year went smoothly, with the matric class of 2024 completing the various syllabi and writing their final Second Additional Language examinations early on in the finals session. Their achievement in the DELF examinations earlier in the year was also a great success. The traditional French matric dinner at Hilton College at the end of term one was very much enjoyed.

024 commenced in celebratory mode, ululating excellent results achieved by the class of 2023. A Block started the year eager and willing to go the extra mile to outdo the previous results and improve the overall aggregate. It is helpful to kick off the year with boys who have set goals and want to be the best version of themselves because it makes it easier for teachers to support their efforts. And it is very rewarding to witness the fruit of those efforts later in the year. We have a solid and stable department and have been ecstatic to watch pupil numbers grow. Conversational Zulu in E Block ignites a spark in the boys and promotes a love for the language and culture. We are seeing more boys choosing isiZulu as their First Additional Language.
