It has been a year of challenges, but a year in which Farfield was able to demonstrate why it is “the House to be in”. The strong success that Farfield enjoyed across a number of fields is all because of the characteristics we embody as a 2 024
House. Not only the boys, but the staff too have played a major role in perfecting the boarding school environment experienced in Farfield. Our House is the centre of the school for a reason, and I believe this year we certainly lived up to our potential and strong expectations. Michaelhouse is currently carrying out refurbishments of its boarding facilities and Farfield is next on the list. Next year, work on the renovation of both the House’s interior and exterior will commence. Rigorous planning has been carried out to transform the House; seeing what has already been done in other Houses, I am extremely excited to see the finished product, and the boys certainly are too. This does mean that we will be saying goodbye to our famous stairwell and comfortable day room for a short while, while the revamp is in progress, but as a community we will be just the same. From the beginning of 2025 the boys will inhabit the old Tatham building in the Main Quad. This carries various pros and cons and may be considered by some to be less than ideal, but with a strong leadership team at the helm we believe that this transition will go smoothly, and the boys will be reunited with “our Farfield” in the not-too-distant future. Farfield welcomed a group of 14 new boys at the beginning of
