Staff Members in Charge: Mrs Lieschen Harrison, Ms Cheron McConnell Captain: Damian Watson ur runners competed in league races at Maritzburg College, Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School, Treverton College, World’s View (hosted by The Wykeham Collegiate), Michaelhouse and Grace College. The league culminated in the final relay and prize-giving ceremony. Damian Watson, the captain, did a sterling job working with our boys and creating team spirit. Michaelhouse’s turn to host a league race fell on 5 June, and we welcomed runners from more than 20 boys’ and girls’ schools. The course at Michaelhouse is particularly challenging, with runners navigating clumps of grass, steep uphills and sharp downhills. Despite the tough terrain, the participants are rewarded with stunning views of the Michaelhouse Nature Reserve. The reserve offers beautiful scenery, including lush greenery and diverse wildlife, making the race a memorable O

experience for all. In addition to our league events, we have also continued with our weekly park runs under the guidance of Ms McConnell. Overall, cross-country at Michaelhouse continues to be a space where both competitive athletes and non-competitive athletes can push each other to achieve their best on and off the track. I am very proud of this fine group of young men and look forward to another excellent year in 2025. INTERSCHOOLS CROSS-COUNTRY LEAGUE This year, Michaelhouse has been fortunate to witness an abundance of running talent across both the junior and senior categories. The team’s performances throughout the season have been nothing short of inspiring, with athletes consistently pushing their limits and striving for excellence.
