FIRST XI CRICKET

Nathan Hoatson, Michael Thornton and Thomas Mitchell, added to the pressure. However, the 2024 team exceeded expectations, delivering outstanding performances to record a final win rate of 71%. The season began with a highly successful outing at the iHlobo Festival, hosted by Kearsney College. The team entered the festival with confidence and finished it unbeaten in their five matches. The highlight was the victory against DHS in a shortened format, a win that set the tone for the season ahead. The performance at the festival demonstrated that the team were well prepared and ready to face the challenges ahead, with players showing composure, determination and skill. The First XI then travelled to Pretoria to participate in the prestigious independent schools’ festival, hosted by St Alban’s. This was another important tournament that tested the team’s mettle. The 2023 First XI had left behind a legacy of success, finishing their year with a win rate of 70%, and many questioned whether the 2024 team would be able to match that.
