of KwaZulu-Natal league meetings on Saturdays that culminate in the KZN Junior Championships at the end of the season. Our athletes consistently perform well and gain valuable experience by competing against some of the top athletes in KZN. This year the KZN junior champs were held in Pietermaritzburg at the Msunduzi Athletics Stadium. THE FOLLOWING RESULTS WERE ACHIEVED: • Ethan Kruger : gold in the boys’ U15 javelin, silver in the boys’ U15 long jump. • Henco van Loggerenberg : silver in the boys’ U15 javelin, silver in the boys’ U15 discus. • Akhona Sayeeda : silver in the boys’ U15 high jump. • Skyler Nienaber : bronze in the boys’ U17 100m. • Tylo Fisher : gold in the boys’ U17 110m hurdles. • Luca Kritzinger : gold in the men’s U19 hammer throw. • Tshiamo Boikhutso : gold in the men’s U19 400m, qualified for the SA champs. OTHER NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: • Ashton Marais : fourth overall place in the men’s U19 100m. • Thomas Peach : fourth overall place in the boys’ U17 hammer throw.

T

he athletics programme has grown significantly, with Ruben and Tshiamo leading both on and off the track. As we prepare to say farewell to our two senior athletes next year as they move on to senior competitions and universities, we are excited about the potential for our athletics club to excel further. Athletics serves as the foundation for all sports, whether they involve running, jumping or throwing. It goes without saying that conditioning and self-discipline play crucial roles in an athlete’s development, both physically and mentally. Athletics helps build well-rounded sportsmen who are driven to achieve their goals. Our main season features the Aquellé Interschools League, which takes place every Wednesday afternoon for five weeks at the beginning of the year. This is complemented by a couple
