FLIPPING BOOK CHRONICLE 2024

GROUNDS AND SURROUNDS The amphitheatre was bolstered, a pathway to the Trade Inn was laid and the Main Quad saw some more façade upgrades because it is almost always the first area that boys, staff and guests encounter when arriving at the school. Security upgrades around the school continued, with biometrics, security cameras, encoders and fire detection devices being upgraded and replaced, or installed in previously overlooked areas. The projects listed above are the ones we highlight but are not the only ones that were undertaken during 2024. There is a constant need for maintenance, upkeep and upgrading in the buildings, gardens and grounds. Our operations manager and his hard

working team across these departments make this incredible, world-class campus a place where it is a pleasure to live, study and work. Such an environment enables and encourages our boys to strive for excellence in every aspect of the holistic education that Michaelhouse offers. Our thanks go out to the parents who pay their fees, and the donors and Old Boys who give so generously, helping to make Michaelhouse the wonderfully inviting place that it is. To all the staff involved with maintaining the grounds and buildings – from the people with soil under their fingernails to the ones doing the paperwork and crunching the numbers – we thank you. Lastly, we thank the outgoing Chairman of the Buildings, Grounds and Environmental Committee, Mr Jason McCormick. 122
