This year also saw the launch of the Michaelhouse Culinary Society cookbook, a compilation of recipes created by the society over the years. Designed to grow annually, it will serve as a lasting testament to the society’s innovative spirit. Next year, the society will run a “digs” cooking course to equip A Block boys with essential cooking skills for university life. Plans are also under way to host a braai masterclass led by Jackie Cameron, which will be open to boys from all Blocks. Looking ahead, the society aims to expand its culinary repertoire and foster a culture of creativity and exploration among the boys. With a focus on practical culinary skills, the society hopes to inspire a love for cooking that extends beyond the kitchen. Additionally, we are exploring options to build or renovate an area for a Michaelhouse kitchen, contingent on securing the necessary funding.

he Michaelhouse Culinary Society has had another successful year, with more than 130 boys from E to A Block actively participating in a variety of culinary events. Each event was hosted at the Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine, where boys engaged in hands-on culinary experiences guided by Jackie Cameron and her talented student chefs. Events were centred on themes chosen by the boys through a vote, allowing them to create dishes aligned with their interests. A highlight of the year was a joint dinner with St Anne’s, where the boys and girls worked together to prepare and serve an array of dishes for teachers, staff and exco members from both schools. This provided an immersive experience in
