however, games that this team should have won comfortably were lost or narrowly won at the death. The team was fortunate to attend a number of national tournaments, namely Vides (first quarter), Clifton, SACS, Top 10 and the St Stithians College Stayers (fourth quarter) tournaments. These tournaments provided the best platform for the individual players in this team to test their skill sets against the top sides/players in the country. In addition, these tournaments were an opportunity to create lifelong friendships and memories. The team was admirably led by their captain Samuel Berchowitz, who gave his utmost for Michaelhouse water polo every time he put on the red and white striped first team costume. There is no doubt this team has raised the bar of Michaelhouse water polo over the past season, a legacy all teams who follow will look to improve upon.

NATIONAL REPRESENTATION: South African Maccabi Games U18 Team: Samuel Berchowitz he 2022 Michaelhouse water polo season was action packed. The year started with a successful pre-season training camp, with many A-team players in attendance, which laid the foundations for the season ahead. A large emphasis was placed on providing our teams and players with more valuable game time to fine-tune their skills and game knowledge. This resulted in Michaelhouse teams collectively playing 199 games. On many occasions, this resulted in our lower teams facing a team or age group up (skewing their overall win-loss ratios). Many A teams were fortunate to attend prestigious tournaments across the country, where they gained the opportunity to test themselves against both unfamiliar opposition and some of the top sides in the country. These teams and players must be commended for their performances in these national tournaments. All Michaelhouse water polo players are thanked for their dedication and hard work throughout the year, including the bitterly cold winter training and the many lightning interrupted afternoons. Michaelhouse water polo continues to improve its competitiveness both in the KwaZulu-Natal and South African water polo circles. A few standout highlights of the season were the eight players selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal, the Michaelhouse water polo teams placing second overall in the KwaZulu-Natal Top 10 Tournament (a first for Michaelhouse) and a successful water polo dinner with guest speaker Martin Dreyer in attendance. The first team, coached by Mr Matthew Stringer (first quarter) and Mr Alex Deetlefs (fourth quarter), achieved a mixed set of results over the course of the year. A super talented group of boys, who when fully committed managed to upset or push the top teams, on a national level, to within a goal or two. Too often,
