like Dead Poets Society , with the magnificent Robin Williams delivering what must be his best onscreen performance, and our own Academy Award winning Tsotsi , which evoked so much reaction and discussion. Unfortunately, I had to cancel a number of meetings during the third and fourth quarters as the boys simply could not find the time to attend. I will try to find a different time to meet next year which will make it possible to attend meetings more regularly.

t has been a difficult year for the Film Appreciation Society. After two years of Covid restrictions, we got back to a normal schedule again this year and the boys found it very difficult to fit everything into their busy programmes. boys catching a good few fish along with the older boys, fathers and Mr Kotze making the most of the great fishing. The second excursion was a trip for the braver fishermen as the cold weather rolled in. Despite the icy conditions the trip continued and the cold only seemed to make the boys fish harder. The le Sueur’s was a pleasure to fish once again as it was fished for the seventh year running. The weekend spent up at the dam each year is always well looked forward to as the fishing is always sublime and the banter between the dads and boys is always great. Though the fishing this year proved tougher with the rainbows focused on spawning, the fish that did come out were all a great size.

he Fly Fishing Club kicked off to another great start this year with over 80 enthusiastic boys signing up to take full advantage of post-Lockdown freedoms; eager to get onto the water, and enjoy river and dam fishing for rainbow and brown trout. The club has fished the Mooi River at the Groundstone as well as the waters Mr Brett Moller’s farm. STILLWATER The winter fishing was kicked off by two trips to the Melouney’s dam.
