very entertaining. The boys were received extremely well by an audience of junior school pupils and adults alike, numbering over 500 people. A clip of the band that was posted on social media accumulated over 50 400 views in less than five days. MICHAELHOUSE CULTURE WEEK: 16 – 23 JUNE The Michaelhouse Culture Week afforded all our ensembles more performance opportunities starting with an unforgettable performance at the Two Schools in Concert in the Hilton College Theatre (16 June). The Culture Week hosted a Marimba Band Festival, Orchestra and Jazz Band Festival, and a Choral Festival in the Indoor Centre. MARIMBA CONCERTS AT EPWORTH SCHOOL AND ST MARY’S DSG: 22 & 27 JULY On 22 July, the band participated in the annual “Marimbas to the Max” concert at Epworth. At this event they performed with

arrangement of the Wii-jingle called Wii Lit , featuring Kofi Asumaning on saxophone. In the African category, the band was not allowed to use other instruments, except indigenous drums. They presented an arrangement of Bheki Melaka’s Angola and in the Movie Theme category, the boys played an entertaining arrangement of the Avengers movie theme, intermingled with some modern twists and turns and displayed the bands’ range of performance and musical skills. They were also awarded the prize for the Best Dressed Band in the competition (Junior and Senior Schools), and were named the overall winners.

On 29 May the band was certainly put to the test when they performed at an outdoor picnic concert at Cowan House. Not only did they share the stage with professional musicians, but they also played an extended programme that was grueling, but
