The Chronicle 2022

with OMs across generations travelling from all over the continent to meet up and reminisce at the various functions. I think this speaks to the health of not just the branch, but the wider club in general, and we look forward to an equally successful 2023! Due to the wonderful innovation of OM+ and the continued effort to connect OMs, we have seen increased engagement in the North of the UK and wider Europe. As such, we are excited to announce two key structural changes that we believe will help us more ably achieve our objectives. • We are expanding to a wider ‘UK and Europe’ branch. The aim of this is to better connect those OMs in Europe and allow us to hold events across the continent where the penetration of Old Boys allows. • A new ‘Scotland and Northern England’ branch has been formed to better connect those OMs who might not otherwise be able to attend events that are traditionally held in central London. We have NINE events planned for 2023. This includes two networking events with Hilton, Bishops and St Andrews, an inter-school golf day, an OM cricket match, the Summer and Winter Luncheons, an Edinburgh Dinner, and the AGM Dinner and Auction. We are particularly excited to also add a Luncheon for the Michaelhouse first rugby side as they travel from across the pond. They are taking part in a 7s tournament to commemorate the double centenary of the founding of the game to be held at Rugby School, and we hope to get as many OMs as possible up North to support them! Keep an eye on the events board on OM+ ( https://omplus.org/events ). The Committee for 2023 was elected at the Annual Election Meeting held at the RAF Club in Piccadilly on 10 November with several notable changes. After seven considerable years of service, Sean Lumley (Baines 1994) is stepping down as Chairman as he prepares to take on the role of President of the Old Boys Club in 2023. On behalf of the committee and wider UK OM community, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Sean for the years of service he has given as chairman. The impact he has had on the branch is immeasurable. The sadness at losing him as chairman is only outweighed by the knowledge that he will continue to have an even bigger impact in his new role as President of the

Old Boys Club next year, and that we have the privilege of still having him on the committee as a Past Chairman! I would also like to thank both Ryan Maree (West 2002) and Nick Llewellyn-Palmer (Founders 2016) for their years of service, and look forward to having them at our events next year as past members of the committee.
