A strong B Block group always makes a significant impact on the House and this year’s group has been a highly motivated and influential team. There were many who represented first and second teams. Tristan Arde, Fortune Mpofu and James Cleland all represented the first XV and the first sevens side. Daniel Kaabwe was an outstanding actor alongside Fortune Mpofu in the school productions of Birds and A Midsummer Night’s Dream . Muako Maepa and Mpumzi Ngcobo both represented the first soccer XI, and both played a vital role in winning the Top Ten Football Tournament which was held at Hilton College. Muako was also the Chairman of the Culinary Society and James Cleland was Head of the Conversation Society. Rhulani Chauke and Muako Maepa both played for the first basketball team. Edwin Miller represented Zambia for polo and was also selected as captain of the Zambian angling team. He also achieved school colours for his accomplishments on the polo field. Marc Du Plessis achieved Academic Colours and represented the first golf team. This year’s A Blockalso enjoyed achievements across the board. Christopher Masefield represented the first basketball side and was named the best defender at the annual basketball dinner. He also placed first overall in Mathematics. Tristan Hoyle played for the first hockey XI and performed an important role in the success of the orchestra throughout the year. Alex Sartini-Kruger,

Adrian Hill, Joshua Hadley-Grave, Xihluke Marhule, Letlotlo Sekatle and Tristan Hoyle all earned Academic Honors which is one of the highest achievements that a boy can attain while at Michaelhouse. Ethan Stewart played in the first waterpolo side and Khala-Khulu Mashiyi played an important part of both school productionss this year. Liam Brander was a stalwart of the first tennis team. Mr Blew and the Ralfe staff group have played important roles in many aspects of the House; committing hard work and time into establishing Ralfe over the years. Other unsung heroes who need praise are Miss Shelembe and Mrs Bailey who manage to keep the House in immaculate condition. Ralfe would probably be in tatters had it not been for these two incredible ladies. At the end of the year, we sadly have to say goodbye to Mr and Mrs Blew who will be departing from Michaelhouse to pursue new roles in the Lowveldt. Mr and Mrs Blew have given great service to Ralfe, making the House feel like home. We wish them all the very best for what lies ahead. I have no doubt that James Cleland, next year’s Head of House, and Mr Paul Snyman, Ralfe’s new Housemaster will lead Ralfe to new heights.
