It is in the spirit of appreciation that I report on the 2022 season. There was an enormous effort put into the season that far outweighed the competing thereof. The staff of this club put in long hours preparing players in preseason regimes and through the chaos of the season itself. Their generosity and empathy for the players are never truly appreciated. The club fielded 12 teams in 2022, who participated in 127 matches. The club recorded a win:loss ratio of 0.78 with 47 victories, 20 draws, and 60 defeats. A result ratio of 57% where the club outscored the opponents by 10% (264 goals to 235 conceded). Our main objective, as a club is to increase depth, and the club scored more goals per game than in the previous three seasons. A sign that we are moving in the right direction. The U14 squad began the season with a magnificent Independent Schools Festival (ISHF) where they scored 17 goals – Elliot Springate being responsible for 15 of these – and were unbeaten. The talent and heart in this squad of boys was superbly fostered by Messrs. Lwando Saunders and Ian Crawford. Hockey is a game of technical skill, speed, and endurance that combines a team ethic and collegiality that few other sports can match. We strive to provide this to all our club members whether they are elite athletes or those escaping the bruises of rugby. T
