The C Block boys once again visited Rawdons Brewery, where they explored the process of anaerobic respiration in beer pro duction – a fascinating example of biology in action. Another highlight was the visit to the Pietermaritzburg Museum, where boys traced the history of life on Earth and reflected on hu manity’s place in the natural world. These excursions remind boys that Life Sciences is not merely an academic subject, but a way of understanding the intricate beauty and complexity of life itself. The department also takes pride in its pupils’ participation in the National Life Sciences Olympiad, where Michaelhouse boys consistently perform at a high level. Through the exten sion programme, learners are encouraged to think critically, ask deeper questions and push the boundaries of their sci entific understanding.
