ing a study of our very own Bog Stream into one of the 2025 portfolio tasks. The boys relished the outdoor activity, and their familiarity with the area contributed to outstanding results. Our A Block pupils continued their urban exploration with a study of the Markets of Warwick in Durban. This year the experience was enhanced by a guided walking tour of the historic Durban Point area with the Durban Walking Tours group, providing in valuable insights into this significant part of the city’s heritage. Our annual Geography dinner with The Wykeham Collegiate of fered yet another enriching experience. We learned how Tronox has become a leader in mine rehabilitation, tying directly into our economic theme of titanium.

Though Geography has not been directly involved in the Fu ture-Fit curriculum this year, it was rewarding to hear D Block boys reflect that the first-semester Geography curriculum pro vided them with a solid foundation for understanding the over arching theme of the circular economy. Midway through the year, we bid farewell to Mr Khalipha Cele and welcomed Mr Vincent Jordaan from King Edward VII School (KES). The department continues to grow, fostering a passion for Geography and inspiring our boys to become the next generation of thinkers, explorers and environmental champions – perhaps even the next David Attenborough of the world.

HISTORY

highlight was the announcement that our top history scholar, Luke Kaufmann, had been accepted to study History at Cam bridge University – an extraordinary accomplishment and a proud milestone for both Luke and the department. As we welcomed our new E Block cohort, we introduced them to our traditional “History of Michaelhouse” module. This foun dational unit prepares the boys well for their famous Cack test and instils a sense of identity and heritage. We extend our grat itude to Lucy Ivins and William Koopman for guiding the boys so seamlessly into life at the school. The E Blockers also em barked on an excursion to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, enriching their study of South African history within a broader

The academic year began on an exception al note. Our matric class of 2024 produced outstanding results, achieving over 40% distinctions and performing an impressive 8% above the national average.
