Africa, perfectly aligned with our desire to develop thoughtful, logical and sophisticated young thinkers. The theme explored the challenges facing new business owners, even with modern technologies and financial tools at their disposal, and highlight ed the ongoing need for a fair and sustainable business land scape. Participants included: Joshua Gruijters, Charlie Parham, Rohan Erasmus, Likho Filtane, Zhengfei Li, Griffon Erasmus, Connor McMurray, Leonardo Van De Dronker Derbynew, and Luneziwe Mshengu. They engaged with questions of integri ty, ethics, funding, regulation and the role of young entrepre neurs in shaping South Africa’s economic future. The process strengthened their critical thinking and communication skills. To deepen discussion and broaden perspectives, TARPs intro duced a new initiative this year: our “Coffee and Cake” meet ings. These tea-time conversations encouraged the boys to tackle topical issues, including the rapid rise of AI and the es sential place of the humanities in a changing world. We were also fortunate to connect via Teams with Bongi Fleischer (Se nior Prefect and Dux 2017), who now lives and works in New York after studying at Berkeley. He offered valuable guidance on studying in the United States and shared insights that res onated with the boys, grounded in his own experience of the Michaelhouse journey. We ended the year with a formal dinner, where we welcomed and honoured two esteemed educators leaving Michaelhouse at the end of the year, Mrs Mary McMichael and Mrs Glynnis Owen. This event provided a fitting conclusion to the year and allowed the boys to draw inspiration from the decades of teach ing experience shared by these remarkable women. The engagement, curiosity and commitment shown by the TARPs boys this year reaffirms that Michaelhouse remains a vibrant place of learning – full of energy, insight and a genuine passion for academic exploration.
