TARPS: TOP FIVE ACADEMIC REWARDS PROGRAMME

Tayengwa, Gabe Isabwa and Sihle Ludonga – formed a team apt ly named House of Logic, placing Michaelhouse proudly among the 60 competing schools. With more than 900 learners submit ting more than 200 coded prototypes tackling issues such as urbanisation, water shortages, education and unemployment, the standard was exceptionally high. House of Logic developed an innovative AI-driven solution intended to streamline the taxi transport system. Their prototype simulated traffic and demand patterns, demonstrating how AI could reduce waiting times and lower fuel costs. On Wednesday 28 May, we received the news that our boys had secured first place in the senior age category – a remarkable achievement. TARPs continues to play an essential role in ex tending our top academic boys, ensuring that these boys are continually challenged. We meet once a quarter for a shared meal and robust discussion, an important part of learning and team building. Our first gathering of the year was a pizza evening filled with icebreakers and a general knowledge quiz. The camaraderie among the boys was evident from the start. In the first quarter, four of our boys entered the IEB TechWays Hackathon 2025, a demanding national competition that chal lenges learners to harness artificial intelligence to address ur gent global issues.
