Individually, several boys stood out. Matthew Bennett was se lected as reserve for the KZN U19B team, and Sam Porter, William Rattray, Joshuah Hoskings, Farai Muronda and Nathan Marshall represented the District team earlier in the year. Their achievements reflect their dedication and the high standards present at Michaelhouse tennis. The season culminated in Michaelhouse’s third consecutive victory in the annual De Wet Cup against Hilton. This remark able achievement reflected the hard work, perseverance and unity shown by our players throughout the year. Even more impressively, the team delivered a record 15-0 result, the first time in the history of the competition that the cup has been won by such a comprehensive margin. As we close the chapter on a remarkable 2025, Michael house tennis celebrates a year filled with growth, spirit, shared achievements and many proud moments. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to strengthen the tennis programme and provide every boy with fun opportunities to thrive on court.

The school celebrated further achievements on the festival front. Michaelhouse received its first invitation to the St Stithi ans Easter Tennis Festival, a testament to the rising profile of our tennis programme. We were also delighted to rejoin the St Anne’s Mixed Doubles Festival, giving players valuable compet itive experience in a fun and dynamic format. One of the standout moments of the year was our participation in the Sun City Schools Tennis Competition. The first team se cured victory in their division, as did the second team in theirs. We also entered a junior Young Guns team for the first time, and they rose to the occasion with an outstanding fourth-place finish overall. These results underscored both the strength of individual players and the success of our development pathway. A particularly memorable event this year was the Clark Cup, mark ing the Rector’s final appearance in this iconic boys-versus-staff and-friends fixture. The boys extended their unbeaten streak, while Mr Clark was represented with great spirit by his daughter Kath. The event brought together staff, parents, Old Boys and friends of the school for a lively and meaningful afternoon of tennis.
