KZN INTERSCHOOL LEAGUE Canoeing at school level is looking healthy, with more than 100 canoeists participating in at least one of the 11 events on the interschools calendar. These events included river and flat-water marathons, sprints, canoe polo, kayak cross and team relays. Michaelhouse canoeists took the top places in all the individual logs for the second year running. They also moved up a place on the overall group log to finish a close second to Hilton Col lege and one place ahead of Maritzburg College.

PROVINCIAL AND NATIONAL CANOEING EVENTS Michaelhouse canoeists participated in most of the KZN races as well as the bigger national events, maintaining the school’s competitive position. 25-26 JANUARY – DRAK CHALLENGE Early in the first quarter, Michaelhouse took a group of ten boys to Underberg for the Drak Challenge weekend. This is one of the biggest races in the country and a highlight on the calen dar, covering 65km over two days. The weather and river didn’t disappoint, with great levels and plenty of sunshine. With a mix of seasoned paddlers and enthusiastic novices, the group split their focus – some boys racing in the main two-day
