nificant moment for these players and all involved in water polo at Michaelhouse. Under the mentorship of Mr Conrad Bubb, a highly talented sec ond team did not reach their full potential, often losing matches they should have won by four or five goals. A little more hunger and desire to excel would have gone a long way in what might otherwise have been a tremendous season for this exception ally gifted group. The third and fourth sides had excellent seasons, with their only head-to-head loss coming against Westville, a fixture they could have won on the day. The fifth and sixth sides struggled to find head-to-head oppo sition. They typically faced higher-ranked teams, which result ed in somewhat skewed statistics. Nonetheless, these teams approached their fixtures with enthusiasm and could be seen playing with great enjoyment at the weekends. The U15A team, under the stewardship of Mr Thokozani Ngco bo and Ms Karin Moffat, enjoyed a highly competitive season. Building on a challenging first year at Michaelhouse, these boys pulled together as a cohort to impress at the national Indigo tournament, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals after a penalty shootout loss to SACS, the eventual silver medallists. Winning the Michaelhouse Snow Cup tournament, defeating St Stithians in the final, was another significant achievement for this team. With greater commitment to training, these play ers have the potential to make a meaningful impact in the first team in years to come. Under the guidance of Mr Justin McDougall and Mr Joshua All derman, the U14A team – brimming with talent – had an excel lent season. There is no doubt that when this group chooses to align fully as a unit, they will elevate the standard of water polo at Michaelhouse to new heights. The U14B and U15B teams, mentored by Mrs Dale Lynch and Mr Peter Stevens respectively, experienced contrasting sea sons. The U14B team went unbeaten, dominating all oppo nents placed before them, whereas the U15B team struggled to play cohesively and to draw on their collective ability to se cure matches that they had the talent to win. A true indication of depth in the junior age groups was evi dent in the U14 and U15 divisions, both of which were able to field full C teams throughout the season. Head-to-head fix tures were difficult to secure; however, these teams are com mended for their dedication to training and the spirited man ner in which they competed when given the opportunity, often against higher-ranked opponents. The annual interhouse water polo tournament brought the curtain down on an excellent 2025 season. More than 150 boys participated on the day, and it was fitting that the House demonstrating the greatest support and enthusiasm throughout the day emerged as eventual champions. Well done, Pascoe. The collective growth and success witnessed throughout Mi chaelhouse water polo this season speak to the unwavering resilience and commitment that shape the school’s sporting tradition. The legacy of 2025 will long stand as a tribute to the passion and determination of the athletes, coaches and Mi chaelhouse community.
