The sport has demanded much time and effort of both players and coaching staff, which must be recognised and appreciated. Great strides have been made over the past few seasons, with the 2025 season no different. Water polo will need to continue to evolve at Michaelhouse as all involved (boys, parents and staff) look to the future. The year started with the annual pre-season camp facilitated by the Michaelhouse staff. In addition, Ryan Bell, Jason Kyte and Gavin Kyte, all highly decorated Springbok water polo play ers, were in attendance to give our players the best possible coaching advice and support. This camp laid a solid foundation upon which the season could begin. Michaelhouse is able to field 12 water polo teams every week end, which is unmatched by any KZN opposition school. There were no fewer than 228 formal (193 in 2024) matches played by these teams. More than half of these matches were played by our non-A teams, as we continually seek to improve access to matches for all of our teams. A total of 1 862 goals were scored in the process of winning more than 60% of all head to-head matchups. Our A teams’ combined win ratio of 68% is

Water polo at Michaelhouse continues to evolve in terms of the quality of team per formances, provincial and national repre sentation and, importantly, as a sport which values character development of its players.
