from what transpired. The sun was out and the hiking con ditions were perfect. The recent rains had fed the tributary of the Mooi River well and the cascades feeding into Roman Baths were in full flow and provided the perfect spot for our adventure-seeking boys, who enjoyed the jumps from the cliffs into the pools below. The hike back to the start offered views of the surrounding sandstone mountains as we heard the rumblings of a thun derstorm brewing in the mountains. It was a good day out and we are hoping that 2026 will be a better and bigger year for the society.

This has been a tough year for the society. The busyness of Michaelhouse limits the number of free weekends that we have to explore the mountains around us, but we made time for a one-day hike to Roman Baths. Exploring the Kamberg’s Roman Baths did not disappoint. The weather forecast was for mist and temperatures at 13ºC until 12pm before some rain, but that couldn’t have been further
