Recently Completed: New English Classrooms

As our boys walk into the new English classrooms, they are embraced by a burst of natural light; panoramic views of the Michaelhouse Nature Reserve; and, of course, beautiful works of English literature. According to research, classroom design can ‘account for 25% of a student’s progress over the course of a year’, natural light, and the effects thereof, being specifically highlighted. Our new English classrooms are so bright and airy that, on most days, lighting is not even necessary. Our second

floor balcony will feature when re-enacting ‘Romeo and Juliet’ scenes with our D Block boys; the reading corners in the top two classrooms inspire moments of reading and quiet contemplation; the large classrooms are conducive to group work and collaboration . Healthy learning environments have been constructed where boys can debate, discuss, argue, present (and much more) in classrooms that inspire creativity and innovation.
