MICHAELHOUSE IMPACT REPORT 2025 FINAL

Rex Wardlaw B Block Founders 2026

Since I can remember, sport has always been my life. From playing cricket on the driveway with my dad, to crying about going to swimming lessons. I have always been someone who loves to work hard, I love the challenges that sport brings and the life lessons it teaches you along the way. Sport is not only my place to get away from life for a little bit, but rather is my life. After 9 years at Cordwalles, which is where my love for sport began, all I wanted to do was go to Michaelhouse, and after I received my sport scholarship to Michaelhouse, my dream had come true. From the moment I arrived at Michaelhouse, the coaches have been unreal, from the early morning rugby, gym and cricket sessions, to the sport tours over the holidays, where they have to spend time away from their families, they have done nothing but their best to help me become the best I can be. I am proud to be representing my school In the 1st XI cricket team, and I am always striving for the best in the classroom. At the same time I am always trying to stay humble and grounded. I always try to do more, whether it is staying behind after practice and kicking a few more balls, taking a few more catches or doing an extra gym session, because I believe that what you put in is what you get out and if you want to do well, you have to sacrifice. Michaelhouse also offers a wide range of skills that I never knew existed, like the Toastmasters Society, which is I believe the greatest society at Michaelhouse, but also the opportunities it offers you in culture and academics. The biggest thing about this School is that there is a place for everyone, no matter the human. Being a full-boarding School it teaches you how to do deal with all types of people, which is something I will forever be grateful for. You form bonds with people who will be your friends for life, no matter where you end up. Looking Back Looking back at my Michaelhouse career shows me how much I’ve learnt about life. I think the most important lesson this beautiful School has taught me is that it’s not always about the man you are on the field but the man you are off the field. The man who treats everyone with kindness, has respect to everyone and is always putting effort into everything he does. Getting a sport scholarship to Michaelhouse is something I will forever be grateful for, to be able to attend this School is the greatest opportunity I have ever been given.
