MICHAELHOUSE IMPACT REPORT 2025 FINAL

Thandanani Zuma A Block West 2026

My journey at Michaelhouse is one of constant growth, challenge, and gratitude. I am blessed to attend one of the top schools in the country, a place that demands the best from me in everything I do. Life here is busy, full of early mornings, packed schedules, and high expectations, but it’s that very intensity that pushes me to become the best version of myself. Every day at Michaelhouse offers something new to learn, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or in the house with my friends. Sport plays a massive role in my life at school. I dedicate countless hours to training, competing, and improving in both cricket and hockey. Balancing multiple practices, gym sessions, and matches with academics keeps me constantly on the move, but I thrive on that energy. The structure and pace of Michaelhouse life teach me how to manage my time and maintain discipline, even when things get tough. Hockey, in particular, has opened incredible doors for me. Being selected for the South African U17 hockey team and touring Malaysia is one of the proudest moments of my life so far. Representing my country reminds me why I work so hard, it’s proof that dedication and consistency really do pay off. None of this would be possible without the guidance and support of my coaches. They are a crucial part of my journey, shaping me not only as an athlete but as a person. Their commitment, honesty, and belief in me constantly drive me to push beyond what I think is possible. They demand hard work, focus, and humility, values that I now carry into everything I do. Whether it’s a tough training session, a tactical talk before a match, or quiet advice after a bad day, my coaches are always there, making sure I stay grounded and motivated. Even though sport takes up a big part of my schedule, academics remain just as important. Michaelhouse challenges me to stay well-rounded, to think critically, and to approach learning with curiosity. Late nights spent studying after practice or preparing for tests in between fixtures are part of daily life here. It’s not easy, but it’s rewarding. The teachers, much like the coaches, play an incredible role in helping me find balance and keep aiming high. What truly makes Michaelhouse special, though, are the people. I am surrounded by friends and mentors who push me to be better every day. We share early mornings on the field, late nights in the house, victories, defeats, and countless memories that will last a lifetime. These bonds are built through shared effort and mutual respect, and I know they will stay with me long after I leave. Right now, my journey at Michaelhouse is shaping who I am. The busyness, the challenges, the friendships, and the guidance of my coaches all come together to create something unforgettable. Every day is demanding, but every day, I grow stronger, more focused, and more grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible community and I look forward to my last year.

“Equally impressive is his willingness to give back by supporting and encouraging the younger boys in our club. He leads through actions rather than words.”
