efforts on SIMI, which aims to improve teaching and learning outcomes in secondary mathematics, particularly in the less privileged spaces of our country. While not directly under the auspices of the Mathematics Department, we are proud of the programme and pleased that our department’s learnings are benefiting more learners. So, in summary, our department has enjoyed another busy but successful year. We are proud of what we have offered our boys and we look forward to 2024 with the enthusiasm which has become a hallmark of our team.

Each year, in a long-standing tradition, we get together with the maths teacher team from Hilton College for a social gathering with a mathematical input to challenge our thinking and our pedagogy. One school hosts and the other provides the input. This year we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Hilton and we provided the input. Next year we will host our friends. he year 2023 at Michaelhouse has been a landmark period for the Media Centre, marked by the inauguration of the Makan Centre and the successful integration of new educational paradigms into our curriculum.
