Jonathan Boesak and Lwandle Nzama assisting with registration at the Investment Workshop

Our E Blockers attended an outing to the Homewood handcrafted furniture manufacturing plant in Lidgetton. The boys were taken through the process from forest to finished product, along with being shown the business’s marketing techniques and the environmentally sustainable practices used in its production process. We thank Mr Wes Harrison for his assistance in making this a memorable outing for the E Block group. Our D Blockers attended a Banango Traders business simulation day. This stimulating and competitive simulation is designed to entertain pupils and teach them valuable financial, planning and strategising skills. We thank Mr Morne Meiring from Johannesburg School of Finance for his competent and humorous management of this spirited day for our boys. The C Blockers had two excellent learning events this year. His use of OneNote on our Teams platform, as well as his punchy and logical presentations, have already provided us with additional skills and ways in which we can provide the boys with an improved resource bank. We look forward to his assisting us in harnessing this approach more comprehensively in 2024. Replacing Mr Johnson is Mr Jason Syce, who is an experienced matric Business Studies teacher, having taught at Woodridge College in the Eastern Cape. Mr Syce also comes with an excellent sporting pedigree and a wonderful pastoral passion. We look forward to having his upbeat personality in our Economics team. The Economics Department strives to provide the boys with real-world input that links to the syllabus but takes them beyond the classroom and exposes them to the business world. This year we undertook the following enrichment engagements with the boys:
