Both collectively and individually, the members of the C Block have achieved remarkable progress. You can see that they’ve grown up and are prepared to lead at Baines. The balance of their personalities is shown by their academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Matthew Carolan made the KZN mountain biking team and has been integral in development of the sport at Michaelhouse. His second place at the Drak MTB challenge and 11th place nationally in his age category exemplify his skill. Lwandle Nzama played second team rugby, first team 7s and placed third overall for the Aquellé athletics series, leading him to receive half-colours for rugby and athletics. Lufuno Kanyongolo made the Competition Marimba Band and played first team basketball as well as U16A soccer. Sithsaba Simukonda represented the U16A hockey and soccer teams as well as the first hockey team and the U16 KZN Inland hockey team. Ian Graham was awarded KZN colours for mountain biking as well as a Grade 8 distinction in his piano exam. This qualified him for the finals of the Carnegie Hall music competition. Gregor von Mayer also played for the U16A hockey side. This year, B Block was instrumental in keeping the House vibe alive. They served as an example to the rest of the House with their strong friendship and mutual support. Ross Moller made the first team cricket, showing excellent ability on the oval. Muhammed Suleiman appeared for the first team soccer, putting his astro soccer skill to good use. Max Rautenbach and Sanele Mnganga helped the first team basketball to a successful season. Sanele also had his First XI hockey debut.

Jacob Sinclair joined Baines this year and completely shook Michaelhouse squash, rising to first position in KZN for his age group; he was also selected to join the KZN U19 team. The A Block group have played an integral role in leading and inspiring the House through their remarkable accolades and endeavours. Dominic Furby was a top scorer for the first team hockey and achieved academic honours. Jordan Baxter held the name of Baines high by representing the first team basketball, hockey and soccer. He also performed for the Competition Marimba Band and the Orchestra, earning himself honours for music. Sohan Ramnath and Abongile Xulu appeared for the first team soccer. Abo was also the leader of Christian Fellowship, vice-captain of the first basketball team (qualifying for the U18 KZN basketball team), on the transformation and diversity advisory committee, and in the Competition Marimba Band. Jordyn Kleynhans played in the first basketball team as well as playing a crucial role in the success of the first team rugby; his skill was underlined by his selection for the U16 Grant Khomo KZN squad. Nathan Hoatson was voted the best all-round player for the first team cricket and captained the first team squash. His twin, Josh Hoatson, made the U19A KZN squash side as well as the Michaelhouse first team. He was also a consistent member of the first team golf and won the school golf champs three years in a row.
