a change in mindset, which resulted in more successful outcomes for the First XI. Under their tutelage the young men of the First XI really seemed to begin to enjoy one another’s company, to start to play for one another, to train harder, to hold one another accountable, to hit more balls, to bowl more balls, to take more catches and, above all else, to enjoy the beautiful game of cricket. They truly lived up to the words etched on the wall of the first team cricket change room, commonly known as the Railway Pavilion: “To be a great team starts with being great teammates.” These words became indicative of the First XI cricket team of 2023 and allowed them to be a successful team that the school can be proud of.
