Turned out, our matrics Peter Hein and Justin Prowse are pretty good at this. T his year the club found a new surf break only 20 minutes from Michaelhouse. If you thought that you couldn’t surf in the Midlands, you are mistaken. As per usual for

We did also, however, manage to get down a few times for our usual Sunday surf at Durban’s North Beach. The first time it was a bit of a mess after a storm had pulled through, but our latest adventure in the third quarter was a great success. We arrived to an empty sea at 7am. The swell was almost negligible, but we knew we hadn’t just driven two hours to not get into the water, so we jumped in regardless. As can so easily happen, within a couple minutes of entering the water, the swell picked up to form peeling two-foot smooth blissful waves which we had all to ourselves. After about another half an hour of this, every man and his dog joined us, but either way, we had a great time out catching plenty. Valentino Zedde’s younger brother, who is arguably a better surfer than our E Block champion, joined us this day along with his brother, Peter Hein, Luke Pattrick and Ben Knoetze. The breakfast after our surf was unusually good that morning.
